New Natural Antioxidant Hits the Scene

We are happy to present natural and sustainable ingredient derived from the highest quality of fresh olive pomace. In short, upcycled antioxidant that challenges the rosemary extract in food applications.

Olives are rich in bio-actives like Maslinic acid, squalene, and carry 30 phenolic compounds. The most important are Oleuropein, Tyrosol, Hydroxytyrosol, Elenolicacid…

Among plolyphenols Hydroxytyrosol stands out as it is the most powerful antioxidant compound between phenolic compounds.

Hydroxytyrosol also has a low Molar mass 154.165 g/mol and is thus readily absorbable compared to more complex polyphenols. This is important as it’s often part of the feed fermentation where it has anti-inflammatory activity, strengthens the immune system, reduces heat stress and promotes growth.

In food systems, differently than rosemary which is oil soluble and expensive, hydroxytyrosol is price competitive and water soluble.

Its mode of action is scavenging free radicals, especially reactive oxygenspecies (ROS). It has very high ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) score and is extremely effective antioxidant in food products in general.

We believe this a true game changer as it’s an alternative for rosemary extract (carnosic acid) for aqueous systems.

To summarize, we are looking at powerful natural antioxidant that has:

  • No e-number.
  • ORAC values – Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity at 1064 μmol Eq. Trolox/g.
  • Is eco-friendly non-synthetic ingredient.
  • Up-cycled from fresh olive pomace coming from the production of extra virgin oli using gentle cold pressing technique.
  • Cost-in-use effective- e.g compared to the more expensive rosemary extract.
